What Tarp for basecamp or best setup for standard one

I am going camping soon and suspect that it will rain :-( In an attempt to keep dry I want to put up a tarp over the fire so that I can cook, keep warm and still while away the wee small hours. Anyone got any good ideas on what tarp would be best suited for this or if there is a good tarp setup that would better befit such a requirement. Also the tarp should allow a couple of friends to join me in front on the fire.

Thanks

Sam

B&Q a big green poly-tarp about £10- in the gardening department, they're sold as garden furniture protection. If this is your first trip you can play around with the poly-tarp, then when you know the score as to what you want in the way of rigging it etc: you can buy a posh one next time..:)
