What steel for bushy knives?

Hi lads file steel makes excellent knifes, having made three in recent months, but unless you anneal correctly they are bloody hard to work with. i used old english brand files (full carbon steel ) i have a full fabrication shop setup and still find tooling file steel hard work, in contrast i have made knives from 01 steel, easy to work with and possibly in a 1/4 of the time .. thats the way to go
