Get molding then mate. Just make sure you take the stubs off as best you can. I find them an excellent ammo.

Yeah I know they CAN shatter. That's kinda the info I'm looking for. Does anyone have any experience on just how likely/often that occurs? Are they lethal enough? Etc.

When it comes down to it you really don't want to leave lead scattered about to get into the food chain or leech into the groundwater either.

You make my point when you mention the lead in tapwater. It came from somewhere. Remember over here lead ammo has been banned from shotgun ammo for waterfowl because (alledgedly) it falls to the bottom of the ponds/lakes and is ingested by bottom feeders and then passed up the food chain. Also some of those lakes are the drinking water reservoirs where tapwater originates; leeching into the groundwater could as easily contaminate water wells.

Mind that I'm not really disagreeing with you. I believe that some of the reasoning over here is dubious at best. But there it is; and likewise I'm wondering if the dangers mentioned from glass marbles are any more real or just as miniscule.

i use 9.6 steel balls and 10mm lead all the talk of lead in water is rubbish lead can not disolve in water lead pipes are and have never been a threat PC madness be carefull when melting lead vent well and keep water well away from moulton lead its hot and will explode and burn catty shooting is good fun and puts food on the table good luck
