I'm after doing some Brigid's cross's with the kids this Imbolc but i'm stuck as to what kind of reed i need and where on earth i should be looking for it.
i live near a moss land and also a local brook so i reckon that should be the hunting grounds for them but i'd rather gather then buy if possible.

would reed mace do the trick? tonnes of that growing along the brook.
thanks
Pete

Just use the wee green field rush Pete, it works fine for the little ones. It dries out though but since the crosses are tied they stay tidy.

Reedmace does work but it's a footer getting it to fold and not break at this time of year, the field rush is still soft and pliable.
