A B-10 flying jacket copy. When I stopped flying, I had a sheepskin jacket that was just too bulky and way too warm for anything I tend to do, so it went on ebay years ago, but it was a very sad moment and I ever since wanted to have something similar but not as bulky/warm.
I recently took up learning to sew of all things, in an effort to recreate some stuff that I wanted but you either can't find or they are too old and precious to wear, as well as for making cool outdoor kit for the gang. It went well and I improved, so I decided I will make that jacket, and used a pattern I found online for the B-10, the first fabric flying jacket the Americans issued in WW2.
Used Ventile Twill on the outside, so it is pretty waterproof. Skipped the epaulettes. Real sheepskin collar, which I made removable so the jacket can be washed without wrecking the collar. Hem and sleeve ends in wool ribbed tubing, and lining like the original in Alpaca wool pile.
It looks really great and I am very happy with it, though I think I will make another one in a more civvie colour too, probably skipped the alpaca and instead going for a couple of layers of loden (as the alpaca added £130 to the materials )

thats a very good job. well done xx

I've struggled without proper tools, but finaly built the garden plant frame , and the mini grow house.20260313_132212.jpg
Ready to be placed in its proper position.
The grow house was snap together, and much easier , tho the wind picked up when I went to put the cover on and it all fell apart again.
Much choice language!!!!!!
Real comedy sketch stuff as I tried to hold it together to stop it collapsing and attempt to hold on the the cover as it sailed from my grip across the garden.

Second rebuild, I used a mallet to ram home the parts with extra oomph. It's not coming apart again!
Still a fair bit of tidying to finish things off, but im almost done, and ready for seed planting

Rescued what I could out of my old grow house( which I replaced yesterday, )and repurposed it into a small log store for my smaller logs, to keep them dry by the back door, in easy reach.

Cutting up Veg tan leather scraps into ticket blanks for work.

(Because when I get there I know it will be "Rebec-CA, can you make us 300 tickets? We ran short last month...")

Used a piece of oak that came with my carving knife set to make a new pipe. So far it's just functional (as a pipe or spare rook for a chess set. Fancy comes next.

As always, my Proton drive folder link is on my profile. Time to take up a coffee and stog a bowl. have a good weekend.

Changed the paracord handle wrap to one made with a leather strip. Fastened with small tacks.

It's pretty cliche, but I did a spoon with a blank that came with the carving set.
I'll give it a coat of food grade mineral oil and it'll be ready for use. The link to my Proton Drive folder is on my profile page; I'm starting to get a few pics in there now.

I guess while I'm thinking about it, here's a couple cool slow motion vids. Here I am firing the dart gun I made. The body is oak, the power is supplied by an extra heavy bungee cord, and she fires darts I make with barbecue skewers:
A couple years ago I was making some corncob pipes and left the kernels laying around. When I sat down to smoke a joint I saw my cat staring at something on the floor and when I looked I saw this little vole taking off with the corn. So I drove the cat out and let the shed calm down and sure enough
back he came. So when he took off with it I sat on the floor and waited. When he came out again I caught him on my phone. But anyways..
