What are your weekend plans?

  • Come along to the amazing Summer Moot (21st July - 2nd August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
I’m going to give this ‘hammocking’ business a whirl tomorrow night.

Not even taken it out of the bag it arrived in yet. What could go wrong?

Also got a little Wolf Grizzly folding fire pit to try out, so keen to see how that works out. Would be grand to have an off-the-floor fire option that’s also backpacking friendly.
Underquilt or sleepmat. I’m sure you know this, but it’ll be a miserable night if you don’t.

Not up to much this weekend, but solstice next weekend so I’ll be out at the wood fair for a few nights.

My plans, not only for the weekend, but also consecutive weeks, is have a good, hard look at my shape, both physical, mental and skill-wise.
I think that might come in handy...

Out of curiosity Chris, what hammock did you get? I've a TW Green Hornet, and love it.

To do as little as possible & to remain as cool as possible, as we enter the second heatwave in the same month. A first.

Getting the Nesting Box ready for Dads visit, so he is satisfied I have High Standards and can fend for myself.

(Im not sure about him...)

Exciting weekend .not!
Farmers market sat morning, stock up on cheese, gluten free burgers for another month, have my monthly cuddle and play with the basket makers dog gracie, a real poppet, then a picnic lunch and paddle in the river, hunt for crayfish, no luck so far even though they are meant to be there. Too many people and dogs swimming and making a ruckus.
Sunday
Wait in for the new desk fan to arrive, and spent half an hour assembling it, only to have to take it all apart and add the blade locking nut I'd overlooked! It's now in working order, but I woke to a cool grey morning, rather than the blazing hot day predicted. I had been in a bit of a panic as I need a fan to cool my south facing bedroom, despite all the tricks to keep it cool, (it was 25°last night, now down to a more manageable 22° this morning)
I realy could have done with it yesterday, but its here now, so prepped for any more hot weather again.
This afternoon?
More attempts to find those elusive crayfish further downstream. Brew kit and maybe a burger, and wild salad to accompany me. Well, that's the plan, but I'm realy tired after a hot and restless night, and may not be bothered. I should make the effort, but have a lethargic attitude today.

An annual pilgrimage to Blakeney Point on the Norfolk coast. We often do it in pouring rain, perhaps not this year.
I’d collect samfire if there weren’t quite so many dogs running along the spit.

Maybe photos to follow when we get there.
