What about cordura

Kydex. if you use your knife for any kind of game or food preperation and you don't have the means of washing your knife until you get home, then cordura will hold any bacteria and/or food particles that come off the knife. It would be very difficult to remove them from the cordura material. Kydex can (and in my case has) gone through the dishwasher with no ill effects. Any woven material will have similar problems.

Peronally I would rather stick forks in my eyes than have a cordura sheath.

Kydex if you want a functional sheath and dont mind scratching the blade

Leather if you want softer and better looking

Cordura is all the problems of leather with none of the advantages

Birch bark?

Wood?

Horn?

Anything but cordura - it has overtomes of "cheap crap imported tacticool knives"

Your knives deserve better!

ROFLMAO. I have visions of BR with forks in his eyes. I'm intriged though. BR mentions scratching the blade using a Kydex sheath. I've not had this happen to me, but perhaps I've just been lucky. Can you give me some more details? I'm with you both about Leather being my favourite sheath material though.

no idea lol:rolleyes:

it is just the sort of think i could probably think of quite a few uses for, mainly sheets that i could heat up with a hot air gun and then form for whatever use....

more of a hypothetical question for future projects than anything else really......
