It's all a bit moot as the bit of kit I want to make wouldn't be cotton anyway. Flax linen or in one contempory source "Hempen cloth" is the stuff I need to get it spot on.
Since the originals used the cloths nnatural selvage for he long edges I've made it even harder for my self looking for over 36 but under 40 inch wide 15 to 20 oz flax linen canvas.
