Well I had to make an emergency dash this morning at the tail end of Storm Chandra, right across Devon and over to Sussex, through some of the worst hit areas. There was lots of flooding, even cars submerged and abandoned on the other side of the road. Plenty of deep water to drive through where I'm glad my car has a higher clearance than some others.

There were also several cars off the road and a couple of places where a deep flooded pothole seems to have ripped of the tyres of cars, leaving several cars broken down just past it. It was noticeable that some of the flooding was down to poor highway maintenance, so not just a problem with the storm.

When is this b****y rain gonna end?????
My bones are affected with this awful dampness, and I'm realy beginning to sieze up.

I feel for those who have been flooded out of their homes, and feel so lucky here as though we've had massive puddles across the roads, cars can still get through with care.
I expected the river to Overton badly this last few days, but, though very high, seems to be flowing seaward without giving any problems here....so far touch wood!

Daughter is in Brooklyn, sent us photos and a video of the snow.

And two pictures of the results of panic buying in Trader Joe's... very nearly cleared out of bread and popcorn.

What will they do with all the popcorn if Netflix goes offline because of the snow?
Should,nt laugh in disbelief, sorry, is your daughter be ok? Picked up a few tips from dad?

She's fine except that there's no heating where she works and to fix it the service engineer needs access to a flat and the occupier will only let him have access early morning or after 18h00... So she'll be working from home until it's fixed. And I'm sure that she can survive without popcorn and shop-bought bread for a week. She sometimes makes her own bread, mostly ciabatta and focaccia.
