Hey, is Scotland still afloat? Norway reports lots of damage from the angry female.
Well my bit is carpeted in green this morning. The trees were still in leaf, many despite the storm still are, but aye, it was a little breezy. I don't know how the North West and the Isles did, but we're not as bad as feared. Just a mess.

Work is closed due to fallen trees.

It is my day off.

I need a nap. Caravan vibrating and rocking all night.

Well it's certainly wet! The river at 3pm was about to overtop the banks on the way to tiverton. Roads are tricky with standing water covering the lanes from bank to bank, necessitating straddling the white line whenever possible and it's still absolutly pelting down.
If m and I hadn't gone into town today, it might be impossible tomorrow. Pretty horrendous driving as it was this afternoon.
Still, we finaly have all the stuff we need for the church kitchen and I got me a much needed doorbell.

Went up to the river this morning, with the bitter wind full in my chops and making my teeth rattle. I thought of all the weather lore that ever I learned and all the corny stuff...like Swallows and Capistrano.
Eventually decided, yup, Brass Monkey wx is just around the corner.

As the old saying goes, Winter draws on.

Ceeg....
or whoever I am

Ooh, it's gotten soggy wet. We've had some pretty nice sunny but cold days, but back to the wet and dismal again.
I'm still waiting for the ark I ordered last year. I think it's the sky blue paint I ordered being out of stock, so I've changed my mind and am now going for tartan. :)
Looking on the radar map, I've never seen such a blob of rain over the country.
Glad I got new wellies!

Difficult to believe we're in december. I'm not complaining, it's just weird. Even the birds aren't too bothered about the food table, normally it's like a McDonalds on a saturday afternoon at this time of year.

Even bigger blob of rain incoming!
Toddled down to take a peek at the river, its running like a steam train and close to the top of the banks. Perfect white water canoeing.
Looks like we could experience a bit of flooding, tho yesterday there were no flood warnings, today we are on Amber alert for the next 24 hrs.
Oh what fun!
Luckily, I'm situated halfway up the valley side, so should be safe enough.

The little old fashioned cinema in Keswick is a joy. last time I went they gave me a cup of tea with a saucer for free before the film started. It is like going back in time. dd xxx

We’re going to see Nutcracker live streamed in that little cinema. Maybe tapas in the Square Orange afterwards.

Yeah, there's defo more rain more inbound. We are inside the Amber warning area (for rain) by about 5 miles.... however the hillside and watershed that feeds the stream is mainly in the yellow area...... (main orange area is to the east, but watershed is south.) The Bannau Brecheiniog will be proper soggy tomorow... that's where the amber warning is located.

The stream was high the other day but goes down again quickly once the rain stops. GIven the forecast, this morning I went out and cleared the trash grate and shovelled the silt out from the last storm.

The last storm was a "100+ shovel" storm- I am now grading them by how many shovels I clear from the catch-pond before the trash grate. I suspect the one incoming will be similar.

I am developing a tidy pile of silt/gravel/leaves mix on the side of the catch pond. I had wondered how I might fill my planned polytunnel raised beds without breaking the bank, I know how now! Silver linings and all that. It is building up enough that this morning I also shovelled it all a bit further away so none of it washes back into the catch pond.....

Just had to chase my big black bin down the path twice in the last half hour. It's empty, so very light.
Had to tye it down to the drainpipe, and put some bricks in it. Gonna be a pitta to get them out!
I can hear the wind gusting which means in my sheltered enclave its bad!
My phone is saying 45-50mph gusts.
Have to go put later..not looking forward to the walk there and back. Tho coming home, I might try roller skates and a sail! :)

Most of the rain held off but I’ve nearly been taken off my feet in the centre of Keswick. We were just outside the Bank Tavern (one of our favourites) so we sought shelter. Not sure when it will be safe to leave.

Plenty water here, about the same as last 2 big storms so prob a couple of inches.

This time though it also fell further east in the central beacons, so the Rhondda/Taff rivers are full and floods possible further downstream.
