Here is my proto-type needles case made from two used cases - a 25-06 over a 22-250 - the inner one slightly thinned and the outer slightly stretched out to give a good friction fit. Both had their bottlenecks ground off.
The cords are plied linen thread twisted up to fit in the groove in the shell cases.

I could do with polishing the brass a bit more and may replace the linen with nylon cord but I will see how this goes first :)
My thanks to Silverback1 for sending me loads of used brass to play with :)

Hi John

My father during WW2 had the same idea and I still have he's needle case, he used a 303 and 9mm case. During my time in the army I did try 308 (7.62) and 9mm case and again a nice fit. Using 9mm its a smaller top and goes over the big case.

as long as it works.........

As they say on the Simpsons "my two cents worth".

Needle cases work brilliantly with .357 magnum over modern Nato 5.56 (civi .223) you can cut off the bottleneck or not from the .223.

It looks like there are lots of options out there - I just used the brass I was given :)
It works well, but it would be fun to try other rounds if there was a kind doner out there....
