i have spent many days out in pouring rain apart from the obvious clothing.

what would you take to shelter for a small group say up to six people.

a load of ponchos/tarps?

a parachute?

plastic sheets?

any other ideas?

If it is for a lunch break type stop on the hills you could try a Kissoo(sp) Sometimes called a bothy bag.

i'd consider some hootchis or a big tipi, arran 5-size if it was just for shelter. (jup, me going on about tipi's again , lol)
