I think the British issue Arctic socks are the best you can get, although im biased as I get them from work: http://www.endicotts.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=1702

Once im set-up I wear a pair of Buffalo socks or British Tent Boots, however these don't seem to be that easy to find as Ive only seen them on ebay.

Not teaching you to suck eggs but are you're boots too tight, have you got good insoles in? My plastic mountaineering boots are about a 1/2 size too big which means lots of room to wiggle my toes. Tight boots usually equals cold feet.

Two layers. One pair fine wool or knitted silk and then a thicker pure wool pair. Even if your boots are damp the wool's warm.

cheers,

Are they german para boots ?
I found the same thing with the older german para boots . don't know about the newer ones mind but have changed over to the british army copies of the lowa boot. Had them a few days and so far are very comfy and not once have I been cold.
For me , I'm wearing british army desert socks and a wooly pair of socks too.

I may be preaching to the choir, but are you sure your boots are big enough? If they're too tight, they will be cold. You need to have them big enough/loose enough to be able to trap air.

Relocated to Sweden
Here in Sweden I've tried many brands and configurations. The heavier weight Ullfrotte/Woolpower are pretty good and I'd second the view that you need a little extra room in your boots.
I've recently been using 'Fiberpäls' socks which work very well. Pronounced 'Feeber-pells' they look like oversocks but are worn alone next to the skin. Helly Hansen do the best ones but I couldn't find a link so just to illustrate here's some by Haetta:

Those look like just the thing for inside my wellies. Any idea how their sizes (M, L, XL) translate into UK shoe sizes?

three things spring to mind:-
1) the old adage "if your feet are cold put on a hat"
2) as noted by others loosen your laces to improve circulation ,try not to smoke if you have that vice
3)try thermal leggings on the principle that the blood brings heat to the feet from the core (warm organs)
and if this heat is lost on the way down your feet will be cold.
