Anyone got any big bits of tree trunk lying around i could use as a surface to split wood on, i have been damaging the axe head using assorted surfaces around the garden, appreciate any help anyone can give me, im in the Falkirk area

if you don't want to damage your axe then you don't really wnat to split onto a sleeper! they are full of all sorts of nasties like stones and nails.

Assuming this is wood you're burning in the home... do you get the wood delivered? If so, I'd have thought whoever you buy the logs from might be able to help you out.
If felling your own, is there a tree you've felled where you could go back and hack the bottom of the trunk off?
