Walnuts - ready for pickling?

Hello team - I am keen to try pickling a batch of walnuts this year. Would you say these are ready to go, or would you leave it another week or two? And tips or suggestions much appreciated!

Take a good needle, and push it through, if its hard, too ripe.

Its the softness rather than the size.

Beware, Pickling walnuts is real Balls to the Wall preserving, and the end result is a very Aqquired Taste
