Walk in the woods - three/four dayer

Desperately need your help!

Me and some mates want a wild camp and three-four day walk...but it must be in a FOREST. this time, we are not interested in open planes, mores, fields, hills, etc...we just want a thick, dense, forest that will keep us going for three/four days. we looked at the new forest, and apparently you can go in one end and be out the end (ooh er) in a matter of hours! so do you know anwhere in the UK that would do? No big expanse of old woodland in the New Forest if that's what you are after - lots of heathland, enclosures, etc. I've been looking for similar myself - a long weekender out of the city, keep coming back to Wales as the best bet.

Can you not console yourself with walking between dense heavy enclosed woodland? you've got to be realistic, this country is large, but not massive, what you want is here but with compromises.

The last time I went to Scotland about 2 years ago and that was in August and I will admit I did get bitten quite a bit!

scotland seems to be the answer for ya, even the likes of delamere forest is infested with midges,and populus .though i do have to ask,is it long range walking and overnighting your after or a secrete base camp for a few days that would be more benficial to you,if its your walking you like and say bivvy bagging then the lakes is the obvious spot,however for more forest stuff you have to look at what you want to do,bushcraft,campfire craft etc doesnt ness require long range walking miles from anywhere just secluded or out of site
