You mentioned Battle Abbey, is that the one down by Hastings and if so what's going on there?

Next weekend there is a big recreation of the Battle of Hastings.

Anything up to a couple of thousand warriors on the field in a good year.

I should be working on this board for the living history exhibit ( Hopefully on the Saxon side.)

Lovely board and pieces Gary. Colours really set it off. My pieces are based on the pawns from the Lewis chess set, but it like those glass beads. You just need a log fire, horn of ale and an opponent now.

Just a progress report. I'm getting a little closer to finishing the carving on this side of the board.

I will try to finish it at Middlewood this weekend. If not, down at Rough Close in November.
