Uses for conifers

  • Hey Guest, Early bird pricing on the Summer Moot (29th July - 10th August) available until April 6th, we'd love you to come. PLEASE CLICK HERE to early bird price and get more information.
What uses are there for our native and non native conifers other than, spruce root cordage, resin, pine needle tea...

Thinking mainly of douglas, larch, spruce, scots pine and western red cedar, need not just be bushcrafty, just crafty as a whole.

Thanks

Leo

Blisters on noble fir can be punctured and the resin used as an antiseptic and wound protector. Also smells nice! See RM latest series.:)

larch makes a very good firewood, very hot and long lasting and produces coals.
spruce can be used to make flexable splints for weaving baskets.
i think douglas, larch, spruce can also make tea but im not sure about western red cedar.
pine is the best wood for fat wood, resin saturated wood found at the base of old dead and especially fire killed pines.

they are all grown for timber but im sure you already knew that:eek: lol
