We needed a non metallic, small and lightweight spatula for our new Trangia fry pan, so I fashioned one out of some recently felled Beech, nice wood to carve I thought, sanded finish for practically, feels super strong for how fine I carved it.

Also a teeny, quirky coffee scoop/tea spoon with my slowly improving facets left as carved, carved from green Ash, also pleasant to carve.

Tell him that it is an unmanly behaviour!

I love carving them too, symmetry is overrated

One useful idea maybe?
Make at least one corner of the spatula (and spoon) the same radius as the inside corner of your pot.
