US Navy Officers Sword

Here is my US Navy Officer's sword. I purchased it in 1965 on completiing OCS in Newport, R.I. A major expense for me at the time. I think I wore it a total of 5 times. There is a black leather carrying case, not shown, that has the words GEMSCO and VITALON printed in gold in the inside flap.

The Army and Air Force have "cadets." The Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard have "midshipmen."

According to the Naval Academy from $200.00 - $800.00 for the sword alone. Belt, scabbard. knot and carrying case are all exta cost

Nice sword, did you practice sword drill, with the emphasis on not slicing any ears off. Would it be 50 years old made to order or even older?
