Dug out my old Peapod this weekend after about 27 years untouched, rolled up in its bag. Expected it to fall apart - went up like a dream.

Is this normal??

Surely they don't make them like this anymore...? This tent saw loads of hard use in the 80s and is still here 1/4 century on - v impressed.

I had one of those, used it for my first walk on the West Highland Way, the Offa's Dyke path in wales, it took a lot of abuse, although one winters night both poles snapped for no obvious reason. A great tent, mine went to an old girlfriend.

Peapods were truly great tents, though a tad tight. They did last, though usually UV damage killed them in the end. Some manufacturers do still make tents that'll last for yonks, Hilleberg come to mind. The fabrics are wonderful.
Spent many a night with a book against my nose in a storm in a peapod, good memories.

UV kills modern fabrics so if things are stored out of the sun they will normally be OK for a very long time.
