He claims to have witnessed a fawn-coloured big cat with two cubs in January, 2010, whilst walking his dogs near Randwick Woods."Where I saw them there are several disused quarries and woodland for miles and miles - you could walk from Westrip through the valley and you wouldn't pass houses, you wouldn't be on public footpaths, you'd almost be lost in the wilderness," he said.
Does not look like that to me (its apprx 2 square miles of woodland at most, and it´s full of bike trails), even if that surely is a nice piece of country:
Good bait, solid trail cam and mystery would be solved. Also decent tracker would find prints in the snow, cats are not winter-sleepers and need to feed. I don´t know how hunting is organized in UK, but over here, local hunters and foresters would know about new predator in a couple of days. But I guess it´s romantic idea to think about panthers and such roaming around Stroud. I would care more about reintroducing british wildcat in these areas, that´s predator who could really live in these places and it´s native and beautiful.
