What you guys think of that . One rod has an O ring - and the other has a string gasket.

Hedging your bets eh Firemaker.
Kind of a belt and braces thing - How about a spare cylinder just in case the first one cracks? ;)

Actually I put this together for another Bushcraft member who wanted the option of swtiching out rods to try out the difference between the traditional gasket string and the O ring models, without having to aquire both. I thought it was a cool idea.

I dont know witch yet! he will receive it saturday in the mail--- so I'll let you know, or he will. I like the idea because the string gasket is traditonal, but the O ring is so easy to maintain. So you get the best of both.

Dam it took 5 mouths to get it from Jeff in the mean time i got on from fire maker it works great but Jeff works a lot easier fire maker yours is good also fire maker is hard to hit bottom but thats ok .When i open the package it look almost like fire maker a little smaller round little shorter lighter brown . Rich,
O rings are made from Neoprene. Which lasts longer?...depends. Some people may prefer to replace the string more often and it can take a little time to get the hang of replacing. With O ring its just so much easier. O rings are easier to replace and probably last as long. Some have spoke of O ring failure but I have never had that happen. I have one that I use mostly for lighting my cigs and for the last 4 months or so it has created coals tousands of times with the original O ring and no signs of wear. In fact, I am working style in my head that has both on one rod so chose is easier.

Opps,
There was some Chaga left over in the cup when I tested it out. Its harder to push down because of the compression. Sometimes harder, as with all string models, if it has sat idle awhile and needs some serious lubricating. Glad to hear you got your model from Jeff.
