Have any of you guys had any experience with the Trekmates bivi bag,i know it will not cut the mustard as a stand alone bivi, but i'm going to be using a dd tarp for cover,i currently have a army bag and feel its a bit overkill for a glorified sleeping bag cover.

Good value bags, light and very small too, if you've got a tarp and a lightweight groundsheet then it'll work just fine.

you seen them in TK max too?

I've waited nearly a year for them to re-stock...then i picked one up today...looked at it...thought 'ahhh well' then put it back!!! (absolutely no idea when I'd get the chance to use it)

Still want one though but have more pressing things to spend £16 on.....

I am off on a wild camp trip start of june so will try it out then, being on Dartmoor i will be trying out its waterproofness no doubt

I bought a couple from TK Maxx. They don't look fantastic but I got them for emergency cover for the kids Scouting expeditions. They have yet to use them when not in a tent and in the rain. They are cheap (from TK Maxx at least) and light and if the kids wreck or lose them I won't be too much out of pocket. Personally if I was sleeping wild every night in potentially inclement weather I'd want something a bit better.

Just as a quick test i got in my bag in the shower and got the wife to spray me head to foot for 3 mins, bone dry even with 2" of standing water

Yeah, cracking bit of kit for the price those bags. I've done a couple of bag-only nights with one recently and in the condensation stakes it was way more breathable than my mate's RAB storm. Kept me toasty all night and I'm using a mountaineering sleeping bag made in the early 1970s!
