An Ash Tree Fraxinus excelsior

One of our most useful trees. The Keys (seeds) may be pickled in the green state and eaten. The leaves make a mild laxative and diuretic. The wood makes fantastic tool handles - light, strong and shock resistant. The wood burns well - importantly it even burns well green. The tree is easily cultivated and coppiced for firewood.

:!: Ash is poisonous to ruminants and occasionaly causes dermatitis in humans :!:
