I initially thought this was an immature Rowan but the leaves look so double serrate that I am wondering what it is. This was found as a lone tree (very young and only 4 foot tall) in a mixed deciduous woodland on the slopes of Dartmoor. Any ideas chaps and chapettes?

you can get rowans with leaves like this but they are ornamental and i wouldn’t know what they would be doing in dartmoor.

the only other thing i can think of is some type of sumac.

Looks like a bonnie enough tree, Littlebiglane, such a pity! It must have been watching Jack Hargreaves "Out of Town".

Incidentally, that's a nice axe you've got there.

As Finbar Saunders would say, Gnnnnnnn Gnnnnnnn!
