What was the location of the tree like?

I have flicked through my guide and I keep going back to Hornbeam, The leaf looks too serrated for common alder but could be Grey Alder if location is dry.

Grey alder looks incredibly similar to hornbeam, same kind of leaf pattern and toothed margins, except the fruits which give it away. If you debark a bit it turns orange, and also turns your hands orange  could be a new fake tan !
