A few years ago when I was 76, I managed to injure my legs in a fall. Quadricep Tendons both snapped and learning to walk again was a long process and a later part of recovery was aided by me having the bright idea of buying an electric Bike. I already had a pedal Mountain Bike but I was a bit concerned that I would pedal off somewhere and my legs would konk out and I'd stranded, but an E power bike would allow me to self rescue.
Sparky..so named by my Granddaughter, has carried me quite a few miles since, and this morning the blue skies and warm sunshine lured us out for a few local miles.
Sparky in the Lane behind home. Brew kit on the rear carrier..

Warm sunshine, about 13 C but a chill breeze at times..
The wild Daffodils all seem to cluster around the power poles along this road, I think they are hiding from the extremely unlikely event of a Council Mowing Machine making an early appearance.:)

Taking the back lane to the cliff tops. I usually cut through the woods when on foot, but Sparky is a heavy lump on slippery ground and I want the road pedalling exercise anyway.

The stiff breeze still has a lingering bite of winter, but the sun tempers it and I know a place for a brew later..

There's a swell still running from a recent Gale

Today the sound of seas breaking against the foot of the cliffs is quite muted. If the wind is in the right direction on a stormy night I can hear the seas thunder from home.

Brew time. Using the Fire Maple quick boil today, the whole brew kit goes nicely into that Respirator Bag and fits Sparky's rear carrier securely.
I'll take the major road home..Easy to tell Spring is here, bloody traffic! That's the second car I've seen this morning....

Back down the lane to home. Just a few miles but the sunshine was nice and I needed a break from painting and varnishing the spars on my little Boat.

Nice to see. I've wondered how you've got on with the ebike - how's it been. It doesn't look too dissimilar there than where we live, not surprising as we're just the other side on the channel. More potholes and much on roads down south though.

The Ebike has been a great success in general although I did have to buy a new battery, but that was my fault for not following charging instructions correctly which resulted in the battery developing ' A memory ' ..sounds scary..:wideyed:

Longest trip so far was a 37 mile round trip last summer, and there was plenty of charge in the battery when I got home. It is rated at about 65 miles from fully charged. I use the lowest setting I can manage without snuffing it from over exertion..

I do a regular 12 mile round trip into Town on the bike when the weather is fair, and I'm absolutely convinced that getting full mobility after injury was partly down to wobbling around on sparky.

I'm not sure it's ever a good thing for a battery to have a memory....

Did you leave it for a long time part charged or not run it down enough?

Left too long on the bike partly charged. When I came to charge it the green 'Charged' light came on very quickly on the charger unit. Rode the bike and the battery went to one bar really quickly. I consulted with a battery Whizzo who completely baffled me, but apparently the battery only remembered a part charge and put the green light on thinking it was full. He dismantled the battery and I was surprised to see it was nothing more than a whole cluster of (I think) 18650 batteries all connected together. Partly charged for about 3 weeks in a cold shed did the wicked deed..I was away hot tenting..

Over Yule a couple of years ago..
