Because most are sold for hunting or for Tac use.
You have a point but your missing a trick. Add a lit marker. I use tritium that glow on their own but light powered ones are easy to acquire. Put it on the end of a lanyard longer that the torch so you can use the torch to power it up.
If it has a tailcap push button... you can buy GITD replacements but you need a 2nd light. It is always good to have a 2nd back up light anyway and spare cells which is another dource of light loss at the wrong time.
