1) goretex waterproofs
2) nice thick fleece jacket & salopettes
Warm and dry is the only way to be from the start, makes everything a lot easier. Who's ever taken forever out on exercise trying to get warm and dry when it could be better spent forraging or having a brew? Cold affects the mind and the body, and hypothermia can rapidly get out of control. Besides, I can live with the odd spark hole in my waterproofs - it's nothing that the duct tape god cant fix
3) Frost mora - basic but damn near indestructible and in a good secure sheath
4) firesteel and striker attached on a chord with a small waterproof container full of vaselined cotton wool.
5) Swedish Army mess kit inc bottle of meths
6) Karrimor / PRI Solo bivi bag
7) 10m paracord
8) sewing kit / FAK / PSK all rolled into one
9) ME Firewalker 3 sleeping bag with waterproof compression sack
10) nice big bergen to carry it all in
