Just cut the willow from the garden next door (with permission) and got stuck in!

Was supposed to be taking down the Christmas lights but couldn't resist...

Can't wait for it to (hopefully) grow in the Spring as it's not as stable as I would have wanted owing to the small diameters available for the uprights but hopefully it will bed in soon. Certainly plenty of catkin buds on the stems

Get the whips cut soon or they'll be too far gone by then... Wishing I had more to play with now but used most of it so will have to source some more (I notice a load has been cut from a local waterway but not sure if anyone has claimed it)

you can cut and plant willow any time of year so long as you water them. it is only said to be in winter time as the plant is dormant so doesn't need to be watered, or not until the warmer months at least.

The last lot I planted had mixed results but it was in a hot spell and I didn't water them - pretty sure we'll get more rain this winter...
