OMB seems to be more of a flash tinder than an ignition tinder.
As Shewie says, mixing it with birch bark is a more effective way of using it.

Old man's beard can be a pain sometimes, I find birch bark much better too.
It's caused me a few hassles this week, the trees in Sweden are swathed in it and it collects snow and ice to the extent they are rendered inflammable. Bone dry twigs can
only be burnt once the fire was well established.

Thanks for the tips guys. Speaking with SWMBO, she's told me that she did manage it whilst we were in Canada with the brown OMB. This was also during a period where it hadn't rained for over a month, so I guess everything was stacked in her favour. I shall try with the bark and OMB and see how it goes.
