Hi guys, i've had to do it! I've gone and made another knife. This one seems to have been inspired by Sals thread on the 'perfect bushcraft knife'. And some very honest (and truthfull) feedback about a previous one i made.
I've tried to combine what i love about scandis and the woody style blades. So i've ended up with a spear point on a full stick tang. The blade is made from 3mm 01 tool steel. 30mm wide. The blade is 115mm long anf the overall knife is 235mm. The bevel is 11mm scandi grind (i'll let those with the slide rules work out the angle :p ).
For the handle i used a mixture of cocobolo, ebony, imbuya and leather which has all be soaked in teak oil and then danish and then finished with some bees wax.
The sheath is a bit rough but i do like this design (i've never seen anyone else use this type, am i the only one?). I'd love your comments and each time it helps me to make a better one. Cheers.

swmbo says that it's quite a relief that i spend my evenings looking at sharp blades and not sharp women (whatever they are? do they hold your stone in place?) :D

:lmao: - I think it depends on if you play your cards right! ;)

Thanks for the feedback. Harold, it's not that tricky to make the sheath. draw a template as you would for a standard woodlore type sheath, then, around the handle (down as far as the bolster) extend one side and reduce the other. Takes a bit of fiddling about and retrimming the first time (just make sure that you leave yourself plenty of leather around the handle). I then dampen down the leather and do a rough wet fit, clamping the leather around the handle and where the welt starts to go around the back. Good luck and pm me if you need to know more. i might try and pop up a few pics when i do my next one.
If nobody has seem this type of sheath before, can we call it a baggins sheath :deal: :D
