Ive found another one today, a nodule of slag i think, its got copper pieces and silver metalic stuff that gives a medium hardness hacksaw and medium hardness file trouble.

Interesting sort of finds really. Where have they come from though ? before the garden, I mean

No not geological, the archaeologist who deals with these things for metal detectorists just said " broad range for metal waste ad 40 to 1800." And thats it.
