Things I found at the weekend.

Not sure what made this scat.
Large bone fragments, lots of black hair entangled in it.

Nearby track.

Judging by the messiness I think this is a Wood Pigeon nest.

Not sure on this one, wren perhaps?

Plenty of these in the lane. Poor chap.

Some nice mossy growth.

the big nest seems too big to me to be a wood pigeon they usually only build a platform of twigs.........and the small one im not sure is a wren it could be an untidy long tailed tit...........seems a bit too open a nest site to me to be a wren

The first nest looks big in the picture but it's not, probably a bit bigger than an A4 piece of paper.

The track looks like it is from a dog. The 2nd nest looks a bit too deep to be a wren nest, and as Andy T said, is in the wrong type of location.
Was the woodland quite large? Near an urban area?

Yep I reckon. There was also some boot prints about so probably someone taking Fido out.

It's a bit hard to get some scale, but if you put your fingertips together to make a ball shape with your hands, that's the sort of size. I didn't want to get too close to any nests for fear of disturbing them.
It's ancient woodland surrounded by hay meadows and nearly 40 hectares in total, no urban areas for miles..
Any help with birding is much appreciated.

After a bit of research, I'm beginning to think it's a buzzard pellet and not scat.

I think you could be on to something there with the Buzzard 'splat' Bushwhacker.
