Nice story but it bugs me when people remove fish like this from a river, and (seemingly) have no intentions of eating it. They remove something spetacular and let it die so nobody else can see it/catch it!

I met a guy who went fishing in the same area and I asked what he did with the fish afterwards. He told me that the local villagers got them. If they didn't have them then they were sold in the local markets so nothing went to waste
ah, so its true - there is always a bigger fish....
if he has family, hope he's a bit more careful in future - fair play to him (if thats your thing) for catching it, but doing that without knowing the dangers isn't the best long term policy...
