The 'I've found a bargain' thread

  • Hey Guest, Early bird pricing on the Summer Moot (21st July - 2nd August) available until March 31st, we'd love you to come. PLEASE CLICK HERE to early bird price and get more information.
My brother is a competition wood turner at Intermediate level in Perth, West Australia. Below is the base of what will be an interpretation of the Seatle Space Needle.
It was made from four square sections of wood glued together and turned. It was then unglued, each piece was rotated 180 degrees and re-glued then turned again. There is a story that Confederate rifle buts were turned four at a time using the technique

The quasi-African piece is turned on seven or eight axes!
He’s good!
I don’t know what came first!

I have a few Black & Decker drill attachment lathes. I make flutes. The most adventurous thing I do is the Opinel knife handle. It’s turned off-centre and sometimes the axis is completely off the work piece but I’m only playing with a toy lathe.

It is addictive!

No idea if these are any good but I noticed Lidl will be selling a couple of Corundum double sided sharpening stones on the 6th. One 1000/6000 and the other 400/800, for £6.99 each.

So we have been speaking about them in the Bushcraft Trousers thread.

Revolution Race

Say its there birthday and are offering 25% off across the board.
I'm normally sceptical but they do have a solid 30 day free try and return policy - which helps get the sizing right and lets you have a think before fully committing

The stock photos don’t look very appealing - tight on the leg but also rumpled at the same time!

They seem to be popular in Facebook groups and I'm sure I've seen someone like Ant Middleton or somebody wearing them.

Gosh. Neggy feedback. How can I respond?!?! :)

I have two of the GP trousers but I'm returning them for the Pro's - Not sure what else to say.
Yes tight on the ankle I guess and maybe more slim legged than others pants - but I'm no racing snake anymore and they fit me.

I guess the 30 day buy or return allows one to have a up close and personal and return if they are not to ones liking. ?

The whole range look like they’ve been put through the dryer on the wrong setting, like most blokes trousers today, a bushcraft equivalent. Fact they’re causing a stir on social media is probably influencer induced.

Longjohns, thick wool socks, mid leg leather boots, nah..

Indeed! Are they a stretchy material?

Some parts are - depends upon which model of trouser you get - the GP & the GPO Pro has stretchy material around the crotch ( can I still say crotch?? ) and bum and inner panels.

But "The whole range look like they’ve been put through the dryer on the wrong setting, like most blokes trousers today, a bushcraft equivalent. Fact they’re causing a stir on social media is probably influencer induced." - I'm not sure they are for you?

Meh! I was looking at their shorts but I guess if they’re not for me then no!
