'The Hunted' movie/kit question.

Yesterday, I rented a movie called 'The Hunted' that stars Tommy Lee Jones and Benicio del Toro.

It was obviously low budget, but I thorougly enjoyed the background scenery.

The plot line is as follows:

Tommy Lee Jones was a tracker, who used to work for US Military to as he said "trained men to kill. Most people he (Benicio) killed didn't even know he was in the same room with them."

Del Toro was one of his students, who ended up doing missions in Kosovo during the 1990's conflict. He becomes battle-stressed, goes over to Oregon State, and starts killing people, gutting them up like deer after killing them

Tommy has to bring him down. End up story. It's a pretty boring plotline, but the reason I watched it was because of the outdoor bushcrafty scenes, where Tommy Lee Jones is teaching his students how to make knives.

Del Toro carries a very interesting, hand-made knife, and I would like to know what it is called. It's a parang-type blade, but much straighter, with a fillet blade, serrated on top, and a chopping blade near to hilt. It's interesting to watch him make one.

Tommy Lee wears a brown shirt through most of it, I think it's a Ventile shirt, but I'm not overly sure.

Does anyone here feel like enlightening a poor college student?

the knife is a tom brown tracker made now by Tops, the original seen in the movie is quite different to the Tops version, you can see them on ebay sometimes and i admit to owning one as a test piece rather than a bushcraft knife. you either love or hate this type of knife as all survival orientated knives seem to get mixed reviews and the fact it starred in a movie seems to bring instant hatred. There must have been some issues with the tracker knife as now Tops also make a tom brown scout to go with the tracker.

youll probably find the shirt is by 5.11 tactical or very similar.

Hi,

I think the original Tracker knife was made by Ed Lombi, he hand made the first versions. Ed made the knives for several years. Another manufacturer, Dave Beck made several refinements to the knife and began manufacturing the Tracker. After ten years or so, Dave also retired from making the Tracker. Apparently the early versions were a lot better than the Tops version that is now produced.

In the scene towards the end, where Tommy Lee Jones is knapping a stone knife, the close-ups on the hands are actually Tom Brown's Hands.

They also had to reduce the amount of camo they used on Benicio Del Toro whilst filming. Apparently during the first few screen tests he was impossible to see on film

Are they yours? if so which Tracker models are they, I like the Tops Scout at the bottom, isn't it designed to go piggy back with the Tracker.

Yeah, those are the blades. *shudder* They're very wicked looking.

I was watching the special features on the DVD, and in the interviews Tom Brown was saying that the scenes in with Benicio Del Toro comes out of the river, soaking wet, and makes a fire was real, and he actually did it. He quoted: "I asked the director to put that in a movie as a way of showing that a person can be soaking wet, cold, and still get a fire going without matches. It's real."

I want to know where I can buy Slavomir's signature knife and axe he used in his epic escape from arctic Siberia, across the Gobi desert and over the Himalayas to freedom in India. I want to know how it stacks up against THE TRACKER. I am also curious how such a man could live in G.B. the rest of his life ( he passed away last year) meriting less attention than every born again ersatz indian who proclaims themselfs the world's greatest authority on survival and shoves some glorified piece of overpriced foolishness on a starry eyed consumer base.

In the river scene and others, there is a lot of hand swaping going on. If you look really carefully when they are fighting on top of the waterfall, it is not them at all.
