This thread came to mind after reading a few posts on other threads.
We don't really make much use of the potential food available that ponds and bogs offer. I know of a few folk who are slowly enriching their own ponds ( and quietly tending public ones) but maybe it's time to find out a little more :)

Healthy, active and biodiversity rich wetlands are wonderful natural environments. I'd much prefer to see them encouraged than raided but with judicious care and a little effort, we could all benefit :D

I have seen that page before, but thanks for bringing it to my mind again. Wetlands are quite productive. From what I have read somewhere, reedmace has the productivity of potatoes and that is very impressive.

Draining the bogs of England was a horrible idea. The drained bogs and it's rich soil is probably one of the major reasons why Britain is so extremely overpopulated. But growth and long lives in misery over sustainability and short lives in happiness, eh? :(
