It's been my holiday reading here in Sweden, and I'm about half way through, and it's a good read, but should be called "The History Of Camping". Interesting section on Roosevelt and the establishment of the American National Parks etc. Lots of stuff about weird early 20th C political camping and Woodcraft movements I hadn't heard of (The Kibbo Kift anyone?).

If I remember it was a kind of alternative to the boy scout movement, but without the millitary undertone. I think its founder was originally something to do with Baden Powell, but they had a falling out over something. Sorry read about it 20 years ago, so a bit sketchy.
