Never been left (south?) of Moughton Whetstone Hole so parked below Horton in Ribblesdale railway station this morning and followed the route as far as photo 1 in Linky then followed the wall along and cut across to the high ground till I spotted the Trig point at SD 78691 71177 map and photo from wheresthepath

set off down hill to get out of the wind with Austwick Beck Head coming into view on the flank of Inglebourgh looking to the left at Simon Fell frow the missing Whitestone boulder tour

and found a line of old Grouse Butts to get out of the wind for dinner

last nights chilli sausage sliced into a small tin of baked beans a fried Burford brown egg , home made bread and a brew

setting off downhill Moughton scar (with the ruin) comes into view

then headed towards Penyghent across the clints

tilll I came to the wall and followed it down to the ladder stile
then back onto the usual route with the wind dropping and the light going golden

it was the last mile , but down hill, to the van.
