Tally Book?

Its like a record of what you have done and what you have achieved.... a bit like a journal or diary.

Yes, that's the site. I didn't understand the text the first times I read it, but now I do. It's kinda like a scrapbook then...?

I take it to be an account type record, or sets of figures (eg number of grouse shot in a season, goals scored by a player etc)
Also a "tally man" sold you stuff on account and you then had to pay, one way or another, especially if you were female. :roll:

Cattlemen and Sheepmen in the west used a tally book for a record of their livestock. Sometimes just numbers, other times they include indentifying marks. This was extremely important during the open range years. They would check their tally spring and fall to make sure stock wasn't disappearing. Sometimes they could only do a round up once a year. Branding was done at these times. Ranchers carried them at all times.

Hi...

I have just decided that i'll take a tally book everytime i'm out for more than 6 hours. So it's easier to remember when I have to write it in the bushcraft blog.

I always take a little notebook with me when I'm in the field. It's great for making sketches and describing plants/fungi etc. that you can look up in a book when you get home. Or even can be used as a 'tracking journal' to record details of tracks you find that you can look back over to help you learn more.
