The Desert
Made this one out of sycamore. I found a piece that had fallen from a tree and had been lying for years in the desert sun. Because of that it gets dark when I oil it. Usually sycamore is much lighter.

That is lovely! Looks very dark for sycamore, but then I did a bit of googling, to discover that in the UK, sycamore is Acer pseudoplatanus, a maple, which is a very pale timber,.whereas in North America sycamore refers to Platanus species, which might explain why it doesn't look like sycamore that I know.
However, it is still a great example of your art!

Regardless of the species name differences which muddy paws correctly pointed out, the craftsmanship on that spoon is exquisite.

Beautifully executed and the style is unique and timeless.


I keep practising so that one day I can get them as good as that.
