Are swag bags when rolled up ment to be huge cos i am trying the idea out.
i have a thermerest, wool blanket, british issue bivi bag and a tarp.
Now if i was to roll all them up, the roll would be huge but it means that
i would only need to take a yoke and army side pockets for the rest of my gear
and have the roll strapped to the top or bottom.

whats your opinion and or any help

hi. Yes the swag is big and heavy. They arent really made for hiking with. More use for car camping/base camp situations. There have been talk previously on there use and making of them. Try the search for swags and bed rolls.
All the best.

your house!
Take that roll(minus the tarp) and put it in your bergan Drew, then the tarp just rolled and packed on top of the snow baffle, add food and water, maybe some spare socks and a small wash kit, and you'll be set:D

Give it a trial run as you may find it unwieldy.

I often swag my rollmat, sleeping bag and bivvy, held together with some poundshop dog collars. This works for me on short overnighters with a daypack for other gear. It also makes setting up and packing really quick.

i have a single swag made from PVC and Canvas measures:
90cm wide and is 50cm in diameter once all the bedding is inside and weighs about 5kgs they are best transported with a vehicle, usually on the back of a ute (pickup) but you can get some smaller swags for motorbikes, measuring 60cm wide.
they are very comfy and warm, much better than putting up a tent!
