This is an excellent book. There are also some great descriptions of bushcraft in it.

Here is an excerpt on making rabbitskin blankets:

"Every year during the November drive, when the pelts were at their prime, hundreds of rabbitskins were taken and woven into blankets. Like the Old People, Jimmy George skinned his rabbits carefully to keep the entire pelt intact. He first cut the skin around the paws and then pulled it down the hind legs and off over the head.

The knife he used was especially designed to be held in the teeth. The handle was of bone, flattened at the end of a secure grip. Sometimes he protected his teeth with a rag. Starting near the eye-hole, Jimmy cut the hide into a long, thin, spiral strip by pulling it up along the sharp edge of the knife. With skillful cutting Jimmy could make a fluffy ribbon ten to fifteen feet long from each hide. Then he formed a link in his chain of rabbitskins by tying the tip end of each fur ribbon through it's own eye-hole."
