hi my first post on here

just having a moan about surplus and adventure company on the internet
i places a order over the net for a m65 parker three weeks and 3 phone calls ago
phoned today and cancelled it with them they had took the money on the first day of the order even though they didnt even have any of the pakers in stock
they didnt state on the net they didnt have any nor after three weeks were they any the wiser as to when they were getting any
and after all that they then tell me that my money would take 3 to 4 days to get back to my bank, it didnt take them that long to take it from me when i paid
anyway just thought i would have a good moan about there crap service
cheers guys

You have unfortunately learnt what most people here already knew, and that is surplus and adventures' online stock is not the way to shop with them! Call them up, make sure they have the item in stock in your size and then you will be on to a winner. In fact, it is the best advice for any online store. I've ordered a few times in this way from S&A and not had any problems.

I have to agree, their stuff is good at a good price too, but sometimes they fair make you wait for it :(
Hadn't thought of phoning to check it really was in stock first, good idea Spamel :)

cheers,
Toddy

I would never order anything from them again they owe me money and a good friend of mine, they have kept people i know waiting for stuff and have flunked on orders, they are definatly the worst mail order shop i know of on the net and i can list a pleothera of people i know who they have dissapointed. Its a shame they have had you over too buddy, but let this be a lesson to anyone else who may want to order from them. Id rather pay full price and get what ive ordered in good time than buy cheap and be dissapointed .

You know this seems to be happening to a lot lately maybe an area could be set aside on this site which deals with nothing but shops out there that give good and bad service this could include references from people who have used them and things to look out for?

Initially that sounds like a good idea but it's also fundamentally very subjective and often emotive, possibly libelous and could land BCUK in doo doo

Totally agree Matt. I wouldn't want anything to jeopardise the continuance of Bcuk, so that probably wouldn't be a good idea to do even if the principle is a good idea. Read the forums, people post their findings on various companies so you can usually make a very well educated decision in where to spend your money. Note the bad press and good though, sometimes companies have a few off weeks whilst the decent workers are on leave, etc!

Why should it be libellous if you stick to factual account's of your experience, especially if you have dated copies of email's, letter's, money transfer's etc? Its one thing to say that company X is crap, its another entirely to say that the service that I recieved from them was crap because.....and you relate the facts and let people make there own judgement

I'm not going to go into the ins and outs of it as I am no expert myself, but there was a lot of trouble with a guy over on British Blades that created a lot of tension and worry as to whether British Blades was going to continue. State your findings with the company, by all means, but don't go on a campaign to dis-credit them. It could end in tears for all of us.

:cussing: Not again :banghead: This could turn into another thread like the one regarding Woodsmoke 2/3 weeks back. I don't think it should continue, this is not the place to do that sort of complaining.

Any comment made about anything wether it be shop company etc can be considered subjective although if its factual how can it be libelous, if you think this is the case could the post that started this thread not be considered libelous? I wasnt thinking of setting out to ruin businesses i was thinking more of a helpful area which could not only include the bad points but also the good. It could help those members who dont have time to search all the threads and posts for links etc to resourses and shops, they would all be in one place, after all im sure everyone who surfs the web at some stage comes across a good shop with great deals this would be a place to add them for the good of all.

If members were to search for Surplus and Adventure on the forums before they buy from them, they'll find this thread and others. They can draw their own conclusions from that.

Yeah but my point is what if someone on the site sumbles across a site with xcellent deals, i for one would love to be able to check out newly posted sites and be able to also avail of those deals, Its not just about bad mate its about good too.

No harm, no foul. Just don't want to lose this facility because a company takes exception to something. Voicing your own opinion on a sale is no bad thing though.

I appreciate your thinking and I am all for helping members when referencing good and bad deals and suppliers. It was the thought of a dedicated name and shame thread that dinged the alarm bell as I have seen such threads turn into the type of threads that get locked or deleted.

The wind has calmed down here and it's not half as cold :)

libel is only libel if its a lie,so factual accounts should be ok,i joined a motoring forum to tell people about how arnold clark broke my glove box ,and took months to fix it,fact not fiction is the key. as far as i know my threads are still there !!!
