I went to buy a stainless steel mug today and called into a local army surplus store. The mugs they have have been issued and are a little manky inside. They are the ones with wire-type handles that fold around the cup. The store was flogging them for £8.99 which I thought was a bit steep for second-hand grubby gear. So I was wondering, the titanium mugs in outdoor shops, like the MSR variety, are very expensive but at least they're new. Can you put those on a stove or/and a fire to boil up a brew?

The answer to your question is the MSR Titan mugs can be used to brew up in, but be carefull, if you buy a Stainless mug make sure it isn't one of the thermal type as there are a lot of them out there.

The latest issue I think are teflon coated and they cost about £15 IIRC if you buy them new from Strikeforce Supplies.

I have seen the Stainless ones sold for £10 and as little as £5
