Despite some very unspring like weather we've had so far, Spring has undeniably sprung.

It's definitely here in Lanarkshire, though the uplands are still pretty frozen.
We're down in the river valley and it's always that wee bit warmer here, a bit further ahead.

It's been a beautiful day, but it was a hard frost overnight.

Definite signs here in Devon -
Snowbells - tick
Daffs-tick
Giant Allium bulbs poking through the ground- tick-tick-tick

The crows are starting to choose their nesting sites and build nests.
Garlic is showing nicely.
Saw a solo goosander on the river today, and a mallard couple also starting with their nest site.
picked a few little primroses to sugar for an easter cake.
Goose grass picked and drying for teas, and herbal remedies.
Beautiful sunny day.
Yes, spring is springing.

Watched two buzzards gyring together this afternoon. It was a beautiful crisp cold sunny day here with clear skies.
The rooks are pairing off too, as are the long tailed tits that usually flitter into the garden in a wee flock, now they come in pairs. Robins are looking particularly sharp and colourful too.

On my walk today with my friend Yvonne, we saw the goosander that she'd never seen before, so she was very excited.
On the way home, we bumped into an older couple who live next door to her, and she excitedly told them she'd seen a goesunder (an old fashoned China potty that "goes under" the bed in times of yore when we didn't have inside plumbing) in the river. The looks of puzzlement from them were something else. :) I'm still having the giggles.

Garden is starting to come to life, Crocus, Lungwort & Celandines showing well, Daffs just starting to flower and lots of birds singing and starting to get ready for nesting.

OK, so I’ll admit it’s Spring.

The food waste has been building up in the composters all winter. It’s just beginning to go back down. The little folk are waking up!

Got to love this time of year, garden is well and truly in the swing of things;

Also have Primula, Primrose, Berberis, Quince, Daffs, Hyacinth (grape and others), Narcissi and a few more besides all in flower.the bees and butterflies are loving it and as am I, breakfast this morning was wonderful, sat there eating my Bagel, watching the Robin, Wren & Goldfinches playing in the Hazel.

Celadines.

I remember admiring them as my granddad took me for a walk in my pushchair.

I was a lot younger then.

(And that is not my earliest memory).

Celandines always make me laugh. I had told my children about the association of badgers and bluebells.

My youngest daughter convinced one of her sisters that where you find celandines you will always find weasels! She believed that for many years.

They are always a joyful sight.
