Thought it was about time i had a better go at carving some spoons as the first one i made were at best rubbish; bit like an egg cup at the end of a stick.

Perfect opportunity to have ago whilst watching the cricket.

Carved from some offcuts of tulip wood which were to hand rubbed with a bit of dog fish skin and a quick coat of sesame oil.

Big serving/cooking spoon
eating spoon

nice!
I like how they all have the same handle profile, matched set.

did you use a bent knife, or just a straight blade?

Nice work!
I find it useful to keep my early spoon efforts so I can see the progress made in my carving journey - also helps others to see that, given a few simple techniques, it is an achieveable skill.

Has been used uptill now but you do have to adopt a hawk bill upper lip to eat your dinner from it lol

The majority of the dog fish skin i have is around the 100 - 120 grit but parts are rougher at about 80 and single direction so it only works pushed in one direction
