I am hoping to go on a BSES Amazon expedition next Summer for 4 weeks.

The trip costs around £2100 and I also need to buy equipment.

To raise some money a friend and I are doing a sponsored walk of 100 miles in less than 30 hours.

There is a chance I will not get the place on the trip, so we will stil be doing the walk, but for charity (we have not yet chosen one, but it will probably be something like Sans Medicines Frontiers).

If you have any comments about how to get sponsored, or would like to sponsor money yourself please reply.

We also need a means of proving we are actually doing the walk, so any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Cheers!!

I'd take issue with the guidelines for sponsorship by corporations. What they say will only work on small local companies, and few will sponsor anyone, especially for what amounts to a "gap year project" which is effectively a holiday. After all - why would they simply hand out money to people, to no gain? There is little a student can offer them. You are welcome to try, but I think fundraising is a much better idea. :)

There's an event in Belgium call the "Death March" which is 100Km in 24 hours or one over here called "The Centurion" that is 100 miles in 24 hours...why not do one of those instead of making your own up and then you can show the medal to prove you did it....?

I've done both (a little while ago now and straight after my third Nijmegen so I was fit at the time) and they are both well worth doing... I used to be very into Ultra long distance walking in my teens and early twenties :D

Hope that helps,

Bam.
